August 1st, 2025 weeknote
Weeknote - Week Ending: 1 August 2025
My first public weeknote.
I’m really enjoying my work. I am part of the talent acquisition team, delivering a key strategic project. Genuine job satisfaction, co-ordinating cross functionally to ensure we are moving swiftly and smoothly from decision to offer, to day one in the role.
What happened this week
- Campaign recruitment moving at pace. We’re making strong progress with hiring across India, Poland, Mexico, Canada, UK and Japan. My focus is on ensuring a smooth transition from decision to offer, to day one.
- The key activities are collaboration and coordination—balancing speed with compliance, clarity, and candidate experience.
- One complexity emerged around position codes used in the hiring process. What looked like a quick fix turned out to need cross-team collaboration and data clarity. I’ve set up a shared tracker, and sought input from colleagues.
Other projects in flight
I’m also contributing to a few other initiatives:
- Supporting the development of a new skills-based organisational framework, including reviewing demos and helping with our agile sprints. I am fulfilling the role of scrum master, working with some true professionals in learning and development, SAP SuccessFactors Growth Portfolio and agile value delivery
- Reviewing our internal processes to support compliance for right to work and sponsorship licensing
- Shaping a action plan with colleagues based on feedback from a recent team survey
TV this week
Like many people the amount of tv I find myself watching on an actual tv is dramatically reducing, but this week I watched 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later with my eldest son. Still gripping, still relevant, and sets us up ahead of seeing 28 Years Later at the cinema.
What I learnt
Read a thoughtful piece on change management, which had a few models that I feel are particularly useful for digital transformation projects. Bookmarking for future reference. Succeed in HR Digital Transformation With Change Management
What I’m thinking about
Excel is creaking under the weight of our recruitment data. I'm considering switching to Microsoft Lists to improve visibility and reduce fragility. Something to test later in the month.
What’s next
- Two weeks off with my family
- On return: catching up on recruitment, attending my first Agile Mini Lab, and carving out time for my personal FY25 goals
Out of office is now on.
