What are weeknotes
For years, I’ve sent my line manager a weekly update. I think this habit started back when I worked at the FTA (now Logistics UK).
It’s simple but powerful. The updates serve three main purposes:
It’s a personal record. I track what I’ve done and link to documents, slide decks, articles, or spreadsheets—so everything’s easy to find.
It keeps my manager informed. They stay in the loop without needing to micro-manage.
These notes have been invaluable during appraisals and for reflecting on my own development.
Only recently did I realise “weeknotes” are actually a thing, thanks to Giles Turnbull, who’s even created a great guide to doing them.
And that’s pretty much it.
